Ahh OK just the price, I thought by exclusive you might have meant only open to IGDA members or something like that.

I can answer though, I'm one of the organisers.

The event is non-profit (organisers & staff are all unpaid volunteers), and we keep tickets as low as we can. The way it is financed is to use ticket revenues to pay for the per-head costs like lunch, break catering, lanyards, programmes etc.. the per head revenue is also averaged down by attendees who aren't charged for tickets but still incur most of the same costs (speakers, staff, media, sponsors, assistants of speakers/staff/attendees with disabilities) and also the student tickets which go at a loss. By only relying on per-head costs from the ticket sales we are -

1. able to keep ticket price reasonable compared to other events and
2. not dependent on a certain threshold of attendees coming to be able to hold the event.

So then for all the fixed costs we rely on sponsors. We have a prioritised list of fixed costs (starting with the venue hire itself), and how far we get down that list depends on how many companies want to support the event.

Ticket price aside the event is also live-streamed for free and all the videos go up on YouTube afterwards, so although that doesn't include all the networking that attending in person does that's at least a way to get the content itself out to people who are financially, geographically or logistically unable to attend.

Ian

I went to book the conference day but as an indie developer I can't afford it. sorry if that was cryptic.

and I meant the comment is aimed at the organiser(s) and I am grateful of your email(s) and enjoy hearing good news from you.

Audazzle are developing inclusive and accessible multi-player game experiences. We hope to impact social isolation. Our aim is to make video games, board games and social opportunities that meet diverse accessibility needs.

Nobody should get left out because of technology, all friends and family members should be able to play games together.
